SUNDAY HOMILIES & WEBSITES
We
asked our readers for any web resources that they use and could recommend, with
a web address and some comments about the site. Here are some replies: Bernard
O'Brien OMI Fr
Pat Flanagan I
have been subscribing to a Homily Service Good News continuously since 1979. For
more information contact the editor, Joe Nolan, who lectures at Boston College -
nolanj@bc.edu Good News is available for
online subscription for $US39.00 a year. Excellent material for reflection as
well as for homily thoughts. Sr
Vivienne Keely The
Irish Theological Association sponsors www.theology.ie
and this has many useful links, particularly under preaching. The site
also provides a link to Desperate Preacher’s Site (www.desperatepreacher.com)
which is a stimulating and valuable resource. Brian
Ahearn I
receive from the U.K. weekly Homily helps from a Fr Jude. He has some
interesting stories & illustrations. I'm sure they would be available to
anyone who requests-free of charge. His Email address is jude@vbotelho.freeserve.co.uk Fr
Tony Davies I have been using http://www.sermonwriter.com There are always three freebies to download so it's easy to check out the site before subscribing. It is ecumenical, based on the Common Lectionary. When that differs from the Catholic Lectionary both are provided. The site provides detailed exegesis on the gospel passage, "sermon in a sentence", "provokers" as well as more extended homily material. Plenty to pray about. The hymn suggestions is the only section I have found not relevant. The related site is www.lectionary.org It is a better starting point. It has the same exegesis posted on it and is free.
Our
bishop printed the addresses of two good sites that I recommend: www.creighton.edu/CollaborativeMinistry/daily
and www.liturgy.slu.edu Fr
Patrick Lim I
have published a website for Fr John Thornhill SM on his reflections for
Sundays. It might be of interest to other priests. It is under the button
“Sunday Reflection” in www.theemmausseries.com.
